Roy Hurst Sr.

Roy Hurst Sr., 77, of Hot Springs, Arkansas passed away, Saturday, September 3, 2022. He was born January 20, 1945 in Delaware to the late Lee Roy & Zella Inez Howard Hurst. He was predeceased by his parents; daughter, Katrina LaJuan Hurst Hale; sister, Vivian Crisp and granddaughter, Taylor Mankins. Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Hurst; children, Roy Hurst Jr., Deana Gaydos, Michael (Ann) Shires, Rebecca (Kamon) Karlik, Natalie (Brian) Dean, Tina (Mike) Moore, Tim (Joy) Mankins; brother Denny Kendall; grandchildren, Justin (Lacey) Karlik, Candice (Jack) House, Cole (Samantha) Menasco, Zane Shires, Marshall Shires, Tiernan Moore, Preston Moore, Shelby(Isaac)Knight and Jayson Mankins: great grandchildren, Brianna Smoot, Gavin Karlik, Makayla Karlik, Zachary House, Katerina House, Lana Menasco and many nieces, nephews & extended family members. Roy Hurst was a kind-hearted, fun-loving, and devoted family man. He loved his wife, kids, grandkids, and in-laws. He really enjoyed being around his loved ones and keeping everyone entertained. At Christmas time (his favorite time of year), Roy would light up the neighborhood, decorating with enthusiasm to bring holiday joy to all the kids. Roy had a few things he was really passionate about and that included his beloved pets, motorcycles, and carpentry work. While his health permitted it, riding his Harley on the open road gave him so much joy that he even talked Marilyn into joining him on many excursions. Together, they restored a few homes, and Roy continuously worked on home improvement and repair projects throughout the years. Roy and Marilyn raised many beloved cats and dogs, and Roy enjoyed learning how to use his precious dogs for pet therapy at schools and senior living facilities. He enjoyed seeing others delight in the company of his fur-babies as much as he did. Roy loved his church family and was actively involved in a number of community ministries with Marilyn to share the love of God. In an effort to spread more happiness, Roy spent many years assisting his wife and his sister-in-law with parties and activities meant to brighten the lives of seniors living at the Pines Nursing home where he would eventually spend several of the last months of his life. His love of family and his kindness to others will be remembered forever Celebration of life service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, September 10, 2022 at Lake Valley Community Church with Pastor Morgan Golden officiating. Visitation will be 10:00 until service time at the church. Interment will be Laurel Land Cemetery in Ft. Worth, Texas, 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 17, 2022 In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Lake Valley food pantry or the Humane Society.
