Patricia Ann Allen

Patricia Ann Allen, 88, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 8, 2023. Patricia, known as “Red” or “Pat” was a beloved mother, grandmother and friend who will be greatly missed by the many friends and family that love her. Pat was born October 14, 1934, in Hot Springs, Arkansas, daughter of the late Odell Thrash and Willie Mae Thrash Danley. Pat was married to the love of her life, Ben Frank Allen, Jr. for fifty-eight years. Pat was a devoted military wife and mother who loved her family passionately. Upon her graduation from Hot Springs High School, Pat went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company as a switchboard operator. After marrying her husband, Ben Allen, Pat and her family traveled around the world in active military service. Once Ben retired from the United States Air Force, the Allen family returned once again to settle in Hot Springs where they became active in their community and Park Place Baptist Church. Pat served as a Sunday school teacher and choir member for many years. It was the greatest joy of Pat’s life to give to others, and she spent countless hours writing cards and preparing presents in order to minister to the needs of the people she loved. Pat also loved all holidays, especially Christmas, which led to her co-ownership with her sister-in-law, Martha Allen, in the Christmas store, Holly House, and a subsequent job at Hallmark. Pat lived life in a way that reflected the love of Jesus to others. Pat is preceded in death by her parents, Odell Thrash and Willie Mae Thrash Danley, and her husband, Ben Allen. She is survived by her two children, Dawn (Ron) Harmon, North Little Rock, Arkansas, and Danah Allen, Hot Springs, Arkansas; one granddaughter, Madyson (Hunter) Harris, Stuttgart, Arkansas; her brother Bill Thrash (Peggy), nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, May 20, at 10:00 a.m. at Park Place Baptist Church, 721 Park Avenue, Hot Springs, Arkansas. Honorary pall bearers include Dr. Timothy English, the staff of the Atrium at Serenity Pointe, and the staff of Hot Springs Hospice Home Care. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Pat Allen may be made to Operation Christmas Child or Arkansas Children’s Hospital.
