Lewis "Buddy" Johnson

During the early morning hours of Saturday, November 16, 2024, a shining light was extinguished as Lewis P. "Buddy" Johnson passed away after effectively serving his community of friends and family for many years. He was born March 5, 1938 in Lewisville AR to his parents, Lewis P. and Mabel Johnson Sr. As he began his Earthly journey, Buddy soon realized that life is what you make it so he busied himself to make his life meaningful and memorable. In his formative years Buddy worked hard in the family business, Johnson Floral Company, which was established in 1907. Buddy jokingly said he was born in a flower pot. His education was critical to his future success as he formed lasting bonds with his classmates at Hot Springs High School. He was active in band and enjoyed equestrian jumping. After graduating, Buddy began to use his personal skills and experience to accomplish success in finding fulfillment by serving others. He was a loyal member of the Elks Lodge, serving as treasure for many years. He was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church and a lifelong member of the Arkansas Floral Association, serving as President in 1973. For many years, Buddy was involved with the Miss Arkansas Pageant, offering his creative expertise to make it a great success. He was also proud to support St Jude's Research Hospital and local youth programs by participating in fundraising activities and providing financial support. His most rewarding work, however, was realized as he followed his passion to serve as a licensed funeral director at Hot Springs Funeral Home where he fulfilled his role of providing comfort care to families for over 40 years. He will forever be remembered for his wit, humor and laughter as well as his commitment to excellence. Waiting for him behind the veil are his parents and his sister and brother in-law, Mabel and Arval Sanders. He is survived by 2 nephews and their families, his extended family, the staff of Hot Springs Funeral Home who cared & loved him dearly. Buddy's influence will continue to shine through the life of those he loved and his life will serve as a testament of God's amazing grace. Buddy always said when he passed away he was going to “HOLLYWOOD” He was laid to rest at Hollywood Cemetery. You may honor his memory by donating to St Jude’s Hospital or the Elks Lodge.
