Jeanie Newcomb Goodwin

Jeanie Newcomb Goodwin, 78, of Hot Springs passed away September 9, 2023. She was born April 25, 1945 in Tylertown, Mississippi to the late Robert and Virginia Wilkes. She is predeceased by her parents, brothers-in-law George Morris and Bennie Sebren Survivors include her husband, Lyle Thomas Goodwin; son, Jake (Liz) Newcomb; daughters, Angie (Todd) Graves and Jackie (Donnie) Garrett; brother, Thomas Burton Kirby; sisters, Gail Morris, Delores Sebren, and Gay (Bill) Stacey; six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, step-son Jade Goodwin and many nieces and nephews. Jeanie graduated from high school at Hot Springs High. She was active in school programs with her children such as PTA, 4-H, Girl scouts and Cooperative Extension programs. She was also active in church, leading Sunday School, VBS, Women’s ministry, outreach such as teaching English to people who did not know English and bus ministry. She graduated with a Masters degree in Biology and Science in 1979. Although teaching was her love she worked at the Arkansas Employment Security division until she retired around 2006. Jeanie was introduced to the father of her children, James Newcomb thru their sisters who were friends. James and Jeanie were married on June 16, 1962. He was her first love. They began their lives together and raised three children in Hot Springs. Although they later divorced, she found love again with Lyle Goodwin whom she married on May 30, 1992. She was introduced to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ through the bus ministry. She lived her life with Jesus as her Lord her entire life. Jeanie lived as a humble loving servant of God to her friends, family and grandchildren. She prayed for each individual person daily, calling their names out in prayer, using journals. She is now home singing in Gods choir. Visitation will be 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday at Hot Springs Funeral Home. Services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday at Millcreek Baptist Church, burial to follow at Crestview Cemetery with pastor John Alvin Graves and Roger Reid officiating. Pallbearers include Jeremy Garrett, John Alvin Graves, Jason Graves, Justin Newcomb, Todd Graves, Donnie Garrett, Devin Obrien and Brian Garrett. Honorary Pallbearers, Darrell Hanckney, Larry Joe Ledbetter and Tom Davis. Special thank you to CHI Health at Home, Elite Hospice, Dr. Kyle Roper, Roger Reid, Scott Hardy, Liz Amber, special friend, Virginia Wolford and Lila and Kaycie who provided loving care for our sweet momma, .
