James Hill

James Allen Hill, 63, of Hot Springs, passed away at home Tuesday surrounded by his family and friends. He was born to Hollis Hamilton Hill Sr. and Hazel Louise Welch Hill of Hot Springs. He graduated from Hot Springs High School in 1965 and attended Henderson State University where he played center for the HSU Reddies from 1965-1968. While at HSU he was also a member of Phi Sigma Epsilon fraternity. Jimmy served his country proudly in Vietnam in the First Infantry Division from 1970-1971 and was awarded the Bronze Star for his service. Jimmy spent 20 years as a construction superintendent for LR Mourning Construction Company of Little Rock. He was a founding member of the Vietnam Veterans Organization of Hot Springs, Ar Chapter 1. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Pamelia Lambert Hill of Hot Springs, his son and daughter-in-law David Hill and Katie Gerken of New York, NY, his daughter Jamie Hill of Hot Springs, his brother and sister-in-law Larry and Nelta Hill of Hot Springs, his brother-in-law Britt and Mary Kay Lambert of Springtown, TX, sister-in-law Martie Hill of Asheville, NC, his aunts Ressie Parker and Eutha Corder of Hot Springs, his nephew Mark and Brenda Hill of New Braunfels, TX, nephew Mike and Martha Hill of Asheville, NC, nephew Lance and Kelly Hill of Dallas, TX, nephew Dr. Randy Hill and Ann Hill of Hot Springs, and nephew Brian and Amie Hill of Hot Springs, niece Leslie and RC Penfield of Bryant and 11 great-nephews and 4 great-nieces. He is predeceased by his parents, Hazel Louise Welch Hill and Hollis Hamilton Hill, Sr. of Hot Springs, and his brother Hollis Hill, Jr. of Chattanooga, TN. Visitation was held at Hot Springs Funeral Home, 1017 Central Ave, on Thursday from 6 to 8pm. Funeral services will be held at Hot Springs Baptist Church, 144 Weston, on Friday at 10:00am. Phillip Allen of Asheville, NC will be the officiant, and eulogies will be delivered by Mark Hill of New Braunfels, TX and Jeff Corder of Hot Springs. Rodney Lerz, Randy Muse, Steve House, Danny Frazier, Terry Reed, Mark Hill, Benny Bridwell and Terry Quast will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers: Sandy and Pat Elliot, Tommy T.R. Robbins, Kathy Muse, Paul and Judy Horner, Adelia Lerz, Rita Koller, Randy Mourning, LR Mourning Construction Company employees, Hot Springs High School Class of 1965, Phi Sigma Epsilon fraternity of Henderson State University 1965-1969, KYC Hunting Club, Vietnam Veterans Organization of Hot Springs Chapter 1, Tony Lambert, Dr. Randy Hill, Dr. Pruitt, Dr. Bobby Muldoon, Dr. Michael Menefee, head of Oncology, Mayo Clinic. Family and friends will be received at 1430 Greenwood in Hot Springs. In lieu of flowers, donations for Anaplastic Thyroid Carcinoma research can be made in Jimmy’s memory to Summit Bank of Hot Springs.
