Helen S. Harris

Helen S. Harris, 79, of Hot Springs, passed away Monday January 9, 2023, in her home, with her family by her side, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was born to the late Fredrick and Maggie Miller (Powers), Aug. 14, 1943, in Hollis, Arkansas. Helen attended Perryville School as a young girl. She married her life long companion in 1966, and they lived the majority of their lives in Hot Springs. Helen is survived by six children: Debbie Buttrum (Danny), of Hot Springs; Nancy Edgin, of Hot Springs; Peggy Truelove (Jon), of Lonsdale; Phillip (Peggy)Harris, of Haskell; Teresa Crain (Richard), of Hollis; and April Rader (Jim), of Hot Springs. Twelve grandchildren: Brent Buttrum, Todd Buttrum, Hollie Hauger, Justin Buttrum (Natalie), Joshua Britt, Cory Woodall, Devin Edgin, Jessie Farmer, Cole Farmer (Lacey), Casey Tillery, Drake Long, and Troy Rader. And fourteen great grandchildren. She is also survived by three siblings: Louise Howell, Mary Ann Heitman, and Noah Miller (Louise). Helen was predeceased by one grandchild, Hannah Farmer of Glenwood, AR; her step father, Houston Powers of Hollis, AR; and four sibilings: June George, Robert Miller, Buddy Miller, and Herbert Miller. Helen was a devoted homemaker that enjoyed her cat and chickens, cooking and canning, gardening, and sewing. She also enjoyed the music of Elvis Presley and Willie Nelson. And oh boy, how she loved her strawberry milkshakes! Helen was immensely proud of her children, and always had hugs & kisses for all the babies she saw. She leaves behind beautiful memories. Even though Helen shall be deeply missed, we rejoice in knowing that her spirit is eternally in the loving arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We thank God for His Grace and Mercy on her life and for the time He allowed us to share with her. Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Joshua Britt, Jessie Farmer, Cory Woodall, Devin Edgin, and Drake Long. Honorary pallbearers are Cole Farmer, Phillip Harris, David Wallace, Jon Wallace, and the staff of Kindred Hospice. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 PM, Thursday, January 12, 2023 at Hot Springs Funeral Home. Services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, January 13, 2023 Goats Bluff Cemetery, Hollis, Arkansas with Chaplain Brian Farrell officiating.
