Charles Eugene Powell

Charles Eugene Powell “Dad” & “Papa” went to be with his Lord & Savior on February 16, 2022. He was born on August 30, 1929 to the late Rex & Anna Powell in Anderson, Indiana. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and loved by so many! In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Faye Powell, son Bobby Powell and his wife Sherry, son-in-law Michael Lyons, his brothers Don & Elmer Powell, sister Martha Ann Moden and grandson Adam Hatmaker. Survivors include daughters Donna Lyons, Janet (Essie) Adineh Kharat, and Cheryl (Jimmy) Hatmaker; grandchildren Catherine (Travis) Robinson, Zach (Brittany) Lyons, Stephanie (Shawn) Long, Majid (Rochelle) Adineh-Kharat, Johan (Juanis) Adineh-Kharat, Khadija (Adam) Borel, Magan AdinehKharat, Katie (Kyle) Sibler, Josh (Koi) Baros, Nicholas (Whisper) O’Dell, Holly O’Dell (Nick), Melissa (Jason) Quast and Kristy Hatmaker; great-grandchildren Emma, Evan, Carson, Chase, Deklyn, Bowen, Dean, Wesley, Cole, Connor, Alayna, Abraham, Isaac, Diego, Avery, Nola Faye, Isaiah, Marley Grace, Makrae, Malone, Evelyn,Novalie, Sarah, Ethan, Brody and Berklee and his sisters Wanda Green, Patricia Altic, sister-in-law Irene Powell; and close friend and “brother” James Quickel. Charles was a graduate of Muncie Central High and received a scholarship to John’s Hopkins University where he studied Chemical Engineering. He ran track & field while in high school & in college. He left college when God called him to be a minister of the gospel. He retired from the Hot Springs Rehabilitation Center/Arkansas Rehab. Services after 22 years where he was the instructor in Automotive Technology. He was awarded certification by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence/Washington D.C. He was acknowledged by A.R.S. as Instructor of the Year. He loved his Lord and Savior the most which was evident in the life he lived before his family and therefore he lived, loved, and treasured his wife and his family with the purest of love from God. He met his wife at church camp. He moved to Hot Springs and married his “sweetheart” in 1950. They were married 66 years before she passed away. He pastored for 72 years in the Church of God. He also considered his “church family” as his family and loved to be with the saints of God! Visitation will be at Hot Springs Funeral Home on Monday, 21st from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Zion Hill Church of God 10612 Hwy 67, Benton, AR in Fairplay Community on old 67 Hwy with Bro. Jeff Green & Bro. Travis Robinson officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Majid & Johan Adineh-Kharat, Nicholas & Marechal O’Dell, Zach Lyons and Travis Robinson. Charles loved the mission works of the Lord and in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Zion Hill Church of God Mission’s Fund.
