Betty Funk

Betty Ann Funk, 62, died peacefully at home surrounded by family on July 21, 2011. She was born in Hot Springs on November 2, 1948, to the late Ruth Hebert Funk and Frank Walter Funk, Sr. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Frank W. Funk, Jr. and Dottie Funk of Little Rock and their daughter Heather Barnett, her husband David and great nephew and nieces Wesley, Grace and May Barnett; sister and brother-in-law Ellen and Bob Morris of Colorado, their daughter Ann Clement, her husband Ryan, and great nephew and niece Lane and Holly; Aunt and Uncle Henrietta and Don Journey of Prescott, AZ; Uncle Norman and Shirley Herbert , and Uncle Roy and Lynn Herbert of Houma, LA and other relatives throughout the United States. She is also survived by her best friend Patty Carlson Roddenberry and precious “boys” Murphy, Domino and Cody and the late Stute. Retired as President of Frank Funk Accounting, Betty served as President of the Board of Lakewood Convalescent Home. She was a lifelong volunteer at St. John’s and St. Michael’s Schools. Betty could build anything and she loved living in her family home of 60 years on Lake Hamilton. She took delight in her gardens and their winged visitors. A champion jelly maker and blueberry pancake baker, Betty took great pleasure in exploring new culinary ideas. She loved spending time with her dog “boys.” Pallbearers are Sunday Supper Club members Jeanettia and Bill Ables, Susan and Charles Harper, Kerry Lockwood and Ray Owen, Jr., and Dr. Phil Woodward; Martha and Carl Carlson and Glenn Brashears.. Honorary Pallbearers are the board members and staffs of Lakewood Convalescent Home, Lakewood Assisted Living and Senior Companion/RSVP Program, Rod’s Pizza Cellar and Shults Nursery. A memorial service will be 10:00 AM Monday at Hot Springs Funeral Home.
