Augustina "Tina" Thompson

Our beloved mother, Augustina, affectionately known as "Tina", passed away peacefully at St. Vincent CHI Medical Center in Hot Springs, Arkansas on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at the age of 88 years. She is survived by her 3 daughters, Diana (Mark) Swartz, Sylvia (Adnan) Fellah, Penny Sanchez and one son preceded her in death, Andrew Sanchez, Jr. Tina was born in Edinburg, Texas, the oldest of 7 children, to Rafaela (Balli) Izaguirre and Abraham Rivera on August 28, 1936. Beyond her family, Tina touched the lives of many by hosting many Christian missionaries in her home in Texas, Ohio & Arkansas. Missionaries from all over the world were always welcome visitors for Sunday dinners in our home. Tina was not only our mother, but our pillar of faith and known for her trust and faith in God as her Lord and Savior. She will be remembered for her support and appreciation for people of other cultures and origins and also missed for her sage wisdom and sound advice. Tina was preceded in death by both parents, both husbands, one son, 1 half-brother, Francisco Alaniz, and 3 brothers, Isaac, Eddie and Abraham Rivera, Jr. Tina is survived by one sister, Lydia Herrera and 2 brothers, Felipe and Juan Rivera. Tina is survived by many nieces and nephews, some who considered and treated her like a second mother, who called her on a weekly basis to check on her, too numerous to mention here but they know who they are. To carry on her legacy of faith, love for humanity and cultural diversity she leaves behind her 3 daughters, 6 grandchildren, Amanda DeAnda (Stoney) King, Ashley Swartz, Andrew Pecina Sanchez, Nadiah (Sean) Fellah, Kamilla (Kirill) Fellah, and Noalle (Henry) Fellah, and 6 great grandchildren, Noah and Isaiah Cook, Phoenix Swartz, twins, Ava & Zayna Abbott Fellah, and Maya Rose Fellah. The family would like to thank the St. Vincent CHI Medical Center staff (both nurses and physicians) who took such special care of her during her stay, and her Hospice Representative, Susan Hancock who helped with her transition. In addition, a special expression of gratitude to the Hot Springs Funeral Home for their professional and supportive care in carrying out Tina's final burial wishes. A funeral service for Tina will be held in Bowling Green, Ohio on Monday, February 10th at 12:00 noon at Dunn Funeral Home (https://www.dunnfuneralhome.com/), located at 408 W. Wooster Street. Visitation prior to the service will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 p.m. A reception luncheon will follow at El Zarape Restaurant, 1616 E. Wooster Street in Bowling Green, at 2:00 PM A private interment for Tina will be held at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park in the Garden of Faith, where she will rest next to her beloved husband, Maxie F. Thompson, a decorated World War II veteran who preceded her in death in 1990. Memorial contributions may be given in her memory to any of Tina's favorite charities such as the Disabled Veterans National Foundation, Paralyzed Veterans, Children's Relief Fund or any Animal Shelter.
