Sessil "Bud" Sherman
November 16, 1924 - January 2, 2016
Sessil “Bud” Sherman, 91, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2016. He was a wonderful Husband, Father, Grandfather, friend, hero, and a spiritual warrior. He longed for the day he could be reunited with his sweetheart, Jean, who predeceased him in 2009. His love for Jean could have been the inspiration for the movie “The Notebook”. A love so inspiring it was an example to all people of how they should love their spouse. Our patriarch had many stories to tell. Some of his favorite ones include sharing Jesus’ love for all mankind; his love for Wyoming and his family; and serving his country during World War II on the U.S.S. Marcus Island, where he participated in the Battle of Leyte Gulf, the largest Naval battle in history. He displayed an amazing work ethic that started in the 3rd grade, working in order to help support his family during the “Great Depression”, and ended when he finally retired to stay home to take care of his wife. His professions included glass factory worker; auto mechanic, gas station owner, oil field driller, and lastly as a truck driver where he retired from at the age of 80. He is survived by his sisters, Geri and Jane; five children and their spouses, Bob and Faith Keahey, Donna and Leon Bates, Timothy and Glenda Sherman, Linda and Charles Bradley, and Tom and Brenda Sherman; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, January 7th and services will be Friday, January 8th at 10:00 AM at the Hot Springs Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at Memorial Gardens with Military Honors by VFW Post 2278 and the U.S. Navy. Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
