July 7, 1932 - May 14, 2022

Richard Mietling, 89, went home to be with Jesus Saturday, May 14, 2022 peacefully at his home in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He was born on July 7, 1932 to George and Lucy Mietling in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Richard grew up the youngest of three, learning from his dad the value of hard work. At the age of 18, he joined the United States Marine Corps, where he fought in the Korean War. After an honorable discharge from the Marines, he moved to Detroit, Michigan where he met his wife, Bonnie. He worked at Uniroyal for several years before moving to Wichita, Kansas to work for Boeing. After retiring from Boeing, Richard and Bonnie moved to Paducah, Kentucky, where they lived for 16 years before moving to Hot Springs, Arkansas. Mr. Mietling was preceded in death by his parents George and Lucy Mietling, brother, Werner Mietling, and sister Jean Poffenbaugh. He is survived by his wife of 66 years Bonnie, children Jim (Barb) Mietling of Tennessee, Debbie (Dave) Crane of Kansas, Rick (Gwen) Mietling of Michigan, Dan (Carol) Mietling of Michigan, 11 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Richard will be remembered as someone who knew what he believed, was generous and very proud of his children and all his grand and great grandchildren. His favorite thing to share besides stories about his grand and great grandchildren was Jesus. Richard was passionate about the return of our Lord Jesus and wanted to make sure everyone was ready! He was also a Patriot and loved this country and the Marine Corps very much. Semper Fi! Military honors will be held May 28, 2022 at Entergy Park in Hot Springs, Arkansas In honor of Richard, donations may be made to Change Point Pregnancy Care and Parenting Center Inc. at 201 Nickels St. Hot Springs, AR, 71901.
