Richard Mawhinney, 83, of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas passed away Saturday September 15, 2018. He was born November 30, 1934 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Robert & Frances Hawke Mawhinney. He was a member of Faith Lutheran a retired Civil Engineer and was a proud sergeant in the US Marine Corps serving gallantly in the Korean War. Richard was an avid hunter and golfer and never met a soul that he didn’t give a jacket to. He was predeceased by his parents; brother, William P. Mawhinney and sister, Mary Margret Baras. Survivors include his wife of 57 years to Carol Mawhinney; son, Richard (Alzida) Mawhinney Jr.; daughters; Julie (Richard) Johnson, Sheryl (Lynn) Bradley; brother, Robert E. Mawhinney; sisters, Sora Pryomski, Judy Garrison; eight grandchildren; Heather, Nikki, Cody, Tess, Amanda, Zoe, Melissa, Victoria; four great grandchildren; Logan, Blakley, Heaven and Temperance. Services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. at Hot Springs Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Robert Banke officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Hot Springs Funeral Home. Honorary Pallbearers are Glen Walters, Leo Blimka and Greg Zlotnic.
