Melvin H. McIntire, Jr., 76, of Hot Spring Village, Arkansas, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2016. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 21, at Christ of the Hills United Methodist Church in Hot Springs Village, with a reception following for family and friends. Mel was born on January 3, 1940. He grew up in Dallas, Texas, and attended Richardson High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1958-61, part of that time at West Point Military Academy. He was selected to represent the 48th Transportation Group for the Exposition Tour and to attend leadership school. He graduated 3rd in his class. Mel married the love of his life Sue on October 12, 1963, in Waxahachie, Texas. He graduated from East Texas State University in 1968 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. Mel had a distinguished career with General Electric beginning in 1968. He worked for G.E. in contract sales for 32 years, winning numerous awards including a G.E. Hall of Fame award in 1980. He was a three-time recipient of the G.E. Masters Award, and 1986 he was selected to attend the G.E. Sales Superiority School at their corporate training campus in Crotonville, NY. Mel served on the board of directors for the Ft. Worth & Tarrant County Builder's Association and was awarded Associate of the Year in 1981. He served on the Board of Directors for Woodcrest Country Club in Grand Prairie, Texas, for two years, one of those as president. Mel and his wife relocated to Hot Springs Village Arkansas in 1990. He continued to work for G.E. for 10 years before retiring in 2000. Survivors include his wife, Sue Greenhill McIntire of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas; son and daughter-in-law Mark & Debbie McIntire, and four grandchildren Mitchell, Meagan, Dan, and Carson McIntire, all of Colleyville, Texas. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
