Larry Bowen, 72, of Hot Springs passed away Tuesday December 29, 2015. He was born August 15, 1943 to the late Juanita Rookard Bowen and Doyle Bowen in Hot Springs. Larry and his father, Doyle, were very successful painting contractors for many years. Larry built a business and legacy from the ground up in 1984 with his wife, Betty, from the hobby that had taken over their home to the florist shop known by many, Bowen’s Florist. The only thing that Larry valued more than his customers was his family. He passed his love of customer service to his eldest daughter who now is the 2nd generation owner. At every turn Larry went out of his way to make others happy. He was extremely active in his community by volunteering as President and Board member of the Jaycees. Larry was also a life member of the Elks Lodge for the past 33 years. He was preceded in death by his mother & father and two brothers, Ronnie & Jerry. Larry is survived by his wife of 38 years, Betty; his children, Cindy (Jerry) Sherman, David Dodwell & Brooke Williams; his grandchildren, Samantha Sherman, Madison Campbell, Katelyn Williams, James Dodwell & Ethan Williams; his brothers & sisters, Melvin (Dian) Bowen, Sharon (John) Smith and Terry Bowen. There will be a Celebration of Larry’s life on Tuesday January 5th from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Elks Lodge Lounge. Honorary pallbearers are Barry Wright, Sandy O’Bier, Johnifred Luker, Jim Shelor, Jim Kallman, Rusty Erickson, Bill Hall and J.C. Hardister.
