Jimmy Jackson

February 1, 1942 - May 18, 2016

James (Jimmy) Albert Jackson IV of Hot Springs, AR passed away on May 18, 2016. Jimmy was born on February 1, 1942 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to James Albert Jackson, III and Marie Pullar Jackson. Jimmy was a graduate of Hot Springs High School and the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. Jimmy never shied away from a political debate and was a proud democrat. He had a variety of interests that included writing poetry, playing bridge, tennis, swimming, and cooking. He was an avid reader and completed the crossword puzzle in record time each morning. Jimmy loved horse racing and anything associated with horseracing. He worked at Oaklawn from 1983 to 2014, and he taught his children to read a racing form before they learned to tie their shoes. Jimmy had a unique zest for life and will be missed by his family and his many friends. Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents; his sister Pattye Kay; his brother Steve Jackson; and his best friend of over 60 years, Richard Hubbard. He is survived by his brother Gary Jackson (Linda) of Hot Springs; his children Holly Jackson Renken (Mark) of Memphis, James (Jamie) Albert Jackson, V (Reahannon) and Amber Lea Jackson (Shaun) of Fayetteville; his grandchildren Rowan and Violet Renken, and James (Jace) Albert Jackson, VI; his nephews Cody Jackson & Mike Shemaitis; and his grand-dog Henry. A private memorial will be held at a later date.
