Jerelyn Suzanne Hahs

Jerelyn Suzanne Napper Butler Riley Hahs, 88, of Hot Springs Village passed away, Thursday, January 15, 2015 at her home. She was born August 30, 1926 in Cape Girardeau, MO. to the late Harry and Myrtle Stout Napper. She graduated from Western High School in Washington, DC; attended Washington University, St. Louis, Mo and Garland County College; worked at the FBI in Washington, DC in the 1940’s. She was a long time resident of Hot Springs. She was a Southern Baptist and sang in choirs in Sikeston, MO, St. Louis, MO, Little Rock, AR and Hot Springs, AR for 45 years. She also served as Sunday school teacher, librarian, and church secretary. She married James E. Butler, of Sikeston, MO in 1946, he passed away in 1981. She married Jack W. Riley of Hot Springs in 1984 and he passed away in 1993. She then married William A. Hahs of Sikeston, MO in 1994. She was predeceased by her parents; husbands; her son, Charles Patrick Butler in 1975; two brothers, Maurice and Byron Napper; sister, Winona Margaret Napper; granddaughter, Jillanna Rentfro; step daughter, Faith Skoog, step- grandson, Jack Vaughn and step granddaughter Amanda Vandivort. Survivors ianclude her husband, William A. Hahs; son, J. Michael (Theresa Diane) Butler; daughter, Elizabeth Butler Oakes; step-sons, Craig and David Hahs, J.P. Riley; step-daughter, Kate Hahs Biller, Jacqueline Longinotti, Phyllis Vaughn, Mary Lou Tucker; grandson, Chay Butler; granddaughters, Rachel Rentfro, Melissa Miller, Elizabeth Butler, Chelsey Becka; step grandsons, John-David and Adam Hahs, Bill Vandivort, Damon Brown and Alex Brown, Ricky Tucker; step- granddaughters, Alison Sheets, Shannon Davis, Laura Geller, Jennifer Ioppolo, Ashley Tucker, Phelicia Riley and Sarai Faith Riley; great grandsons, Galen Butler, Jeremiah, Caleb and Joshua Miller, Gavin and Sawyer Becka, step great grandsons Cal Sheets, Jack Keller, Lance and Jacob Davis, Sam Geller, Dominic Ioppolo; great granddaughters, ShayLyn May, Arianna Rentfro, Abigail Miller, step-great granddaughters; Anne Marie Sheets, Samantha and Sarah Keller, Nell Vandivort, Haley Anne Geller, Mya Ioppolo, Nora Grace Hahs; one great great grandson, Koby Bell and many more extended family. She always wanted a big family and she collected more family members as she went through life. She also leaves behind a wonderful family of women who came together in the form of a women’s group called “Bucket List Bunnies.” These women showed her a lot of love and cared deeply for her in the last year of her life. In lieu of flowers it is her wish that people would make donations to those who rescue and care for dogs and cats. Our 9 lb poodle, Puff, was her “buddy” towards the end of her life and gave her a lot of love. Our little 3.6 lb Yorkie, Ulysses would sleep on the bed with her sometimes, she was amused at both of their antics. She realizes the value of pets with people that are ill, lonely and dying and wants to be a small part of saving of a few more that would not have been saved otherwise. She was ready to go home. She had a long and happy life on this earth but greater treasures awaited her in Heaven. There are many that went before her and are there, waiting to greet her. Our beloved mother and friend, who loved her family so much will now be waiting for the rest of us when it is our time to go home. Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday at First Baptist Church with Reverend John McCallum officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation 2:00 – 4:00 Sunday at Hot Springs Funeral Home.
