Irene Chatterton

Irene Chatterton, 87, of Hot Springs passed away on Monday, January 6, 2020. She was born on September 11, 1932 in Johnson County, Arkansas to the late William Monroe Tate and Stella Warren Tate. She worked at the family’s Hobson Grocery Store while she was in high school and she was a graduate of Hot Springs High School in 1951. She married her husband, Richard Allen Chatterton on Easter Sunday in 1952. They were married for over 58 years and they owned Chatterton’s City Bakery on Central Avenue for over 35 years. After her husband’s retirement, they enjoyed traveling to antique car shows and swap meets. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard Chatterton, one brother, William Douglas Tate, and four sisters, Lola Golden, Clara Leona Betts, Stella Glover and Patricia Ann Thornton. Survivors include two sons, Lee Allen Chatterton of Hot Springs and Randal Barry Chatterton of Wichita Falls, Texas, two daughters, Rosemarie Voydetich and Debra Denise Cady, both of Hot Springs. She was also survived by two sisters, Mabel Freeman and Mary Sue Bean, both of Hot Springs and four grandchildren, Kendal, Casey, Amber and Liberty. Graveside services will be Monday at 2:00 P.M. at Crestview Memorial Park with Pastor Steve Murphy officiating. Burial will be in Crestview Memorial Park.
