Franklin Dean Sears

August 29, 1950 - April 17, 2022

Franklin Dean Sears went to be with his Lord on April 17, 2022 at the age of 71. He was born on August 29, 1950 in Hot Springs, Arkansas to two loving parents, Freeman and Eva Dean Sears. Frank is preceded in death by his father, Freeman Sears, grandparents, Frank and Lena Sears and J. T. and Mishie Trammell. And sister-in-law, Margret Sears. He is survived by his loving mother, Eva Dean Sears, two children, Rebekah (Becky) Furnas and son-in-law, John Furnas, Franklin D. Sears II and daughter-in-law, Amanda Sears and his brother, Tommy (Fred) Sears, his previous wife of 23 years, Shirley Jackson and current wife of 29 years, Elizabeth (BJ) Sears. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Kassi Furnas Eddy (William), Jennifer Furnas Stanfill (Preston) Haley Evans and Tucker Franklin Sears and four great-grandchildren all of Lonsdale, AR. He was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America starting as an apprentice at the age of 16 to become a local union member 891 which continued till his retirement. Part of four generations of carpenters and partial owner of Freeman Sears and Sons Construction. He was part owner of Third Street Gun and Pawn also. He is a member and former deacon of Smith Creek Baptist Church and was an active member of Garland County Sheriff Mounted Search and Rescue. He was a past member of Fountain Lake Booster Club in which he enjoyed many athletic events with his children. He was a past member of the Arkansas Cattleman’s Association and the Cowboy Mountain Shooting Association in which he spent many active years rodeoing. In 2011, 2012, 2013 he was CMAS high point World Champion in his division with his beloved paint horse, Buddy. He loved to compete in shooting off horseback and fish with his wife, grandson, Tucker and granddaughter, Haley. He enjoyed yelling at the refs during Kassi and Jennifer’s basketball games, cheering on Haley during her band performances and yelling at Tucker to block someone during his football games. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Hot Springs Funeral Home. Celebration of his life will be Thursday at 2:00 P.M. in the Hot Springs Funeral Home Chapel with Brother William Eddy and Brother David Farris officiating. Pallbearers are Tucker Sears, William Eddy, Preston Stanfill, Larry Hutson, Barry Adam, Joe Caldwell, Kenny Kizer and Mike Brown. Honorary pallbearers are Larry Lecknaer, Paul Lecknaer, Paul Geurin, Gary Burroughs, Glenn Spraggins, Garland County Search and Rescue and CMAS Members and Staff. Burial will be in Smith Creek Cemetery
