Frank Runyan Jr.

Frank Runyan, Jr., 80, of Hot Springs passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2019. He was born on January 3, 1939 in Dyess, Arkansas to the late Benjamin F. Runyan, Sr. and Edith Tarver Runyan. He retired from the U.S. Army as Lt. Colonel with the Artillery Division after 21 years of distinguished service. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He received many honors including three Bronze Stars, two Meritorious Service Medal with First Oak Leaf Cluster, the Air Medal and many other Medals and Ribbons. Frank was a life member of the VFW Post #2278, the VFW Post # 2278 Honor Guard, and a life member of the Elks Lodge #380 and was a Past Exalted Ruler. He was a member of the St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. He was predeceased by his parents and one brother, Dr. Bill Runyan. Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Nina Runyan of Hot Springs, two daughters, Edie Looper (David) of Bismarck, AR and Sandi Davis (Sam) of Malvern, AR, one sister-in-law, Lola Runyan of Little Rock, four grandchildren, Nicholas Looper, Bradley Looper, Erica Lane and Scott Lane, four great-grandchildren, Tristen, Damien, Parker and Annaleigh, two nieces and his special companion, Sweet Lucy. Memorial services will be Tuesday at 2:00 P.M. at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church with The Reverend C B Baker officiating. Military honors will be by the U.S. Army Ft. Sill Honor Team at the reception at the Elks Lodge on 122 Abbott Place, Hot Springs, AR.
