Dorothy Cook Adams

September 6, 1920 - December 4, 2016

Dorothy Dean Cook Adams, 96, of Hot Springs passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2016 at the Lake Hamilton Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on September 6, 1920 to Vera Margaret McClard and George Arthur Cook in Hot Springs. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Eschol Adams; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Arthur Cook; her brothers, Hyram Dale Cook and twin, Delmah Dewitt Cook; one sister, Thelma Cook Freeman; and her sons, Dewitt ”Beau” Bowling and Jim Cook Bowling. Dorothy is survived by her sister-in-law, Maxine Cook of Hutchinson, Kansas; nieces, Karen (Brian) Boston of Hutchinson, Kansas, Georgia (Ronny) Hethcox of Spring, Texas, Cheryl Weinberg of Metairie, Louisiana, Martha Dale (Dickey) Cooley and Vera Joe Durham of Hot Springs; nephew, Ken (Tracy) Freeman of Hot Springs; Tommy Moran a very devoted friend; and numerous special great nieces and great nephews. Dorothy worked in sales at Eleanor Harris, as a bookkeeper and secretary at Arthur Cook’s Ice Cream and Dairy Company, and as the office manager at Coleman Dairy. She also worked at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in the registration for outpatient surgery. Dorothy was a devoted mother and daughter. She loved to cook, read, and dance. She had sixteen wonderful years with Eschol. They loved gardening, driving, boating, fishing and visiting Branson, Missouri Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Friday December 9th at Hot Springs Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 12:00 P.M. Friday December 9th at Memorial Gardens with Reverend Lee Floyd officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Community of Christ or the charity of your choice. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff of the Atrium at Serenity Point where she lived for six years, and the staff of Lake Hamilton Health and Rehab for the special care during her rehab and final days.
