Anthony Carlisle Penny

Anthony Carlisle Penny, 79, of Hot Springs, rode his last race on Sunday, November 25. Anthony was a jockey for Ocala Stud Farm stables in Ocala, Florida, as well as other stables. His career spanned 6 years and included tracks in Detroit, Chicago, Louisville, New Orleans and several tracks in Florida and California. He also owned and trained horses, including Wagon Crossing, who raced at Florida Downs. After retirement from racing, Anthony produced several songs, poems and golf accessories under the trademark, RCanSaw Connection. Anthony is predeceased by his father, James Russell Penny, Sr., his mother, Maria (Saladino) Penny, and his older brother, James Russell Penny, Jr. His survivors include his daughter, Melissa Penny Heckman (Jesse) of Jacksonville, Florida, four grandchildren, Jonah, Fera, Myka, and Savannah; his brothers, Gordon Penny (Nancy) of Bellville, Texas, and Roy Penny of West Lake, Louisiana; his sisters, Joyce Penny Miller of Plano, Texas, and Nevada Penny Copeland (Ron) of Little Rock, and long-time companion Shonna Robinson of Hot Springs and her family, and several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the employees of The Pines Rehabilitation and Nursing Center and staff of Kindred Hospice Care, both of Hot Springs. No funeral services are planned at this time.
