Roy Siler

Roy Larry Siler, loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away March 28, 2013 while at home surrounded by family. Larry was born on May 17, 1939 in Siler City, North Carolina where he met his wonderful wife of 51 years, Becky. After serving his country in the United States Navy, Larry began a long and successful 32-year career at Xerox Corporation which took his family from North Carolina, to Atlanta, Georgia, to Houston, Texas then on to Trophy Club, Texas. Following his retirement from Xerox, Larry then served as CEO and President of WTS, Inc. in Arlington, Texas until he fully retired to Hot Springs Village, Arkansas in 1999. Larry spent his life devoted to his family and friends, was an avid golfer, and graciously served all the communities he lived in. During his retirement in Hot Springs, when Larry was not on the golf course with friends or visiting family, he served as Treasurer at Mountainside United Methodist Church, served on the Board of both the Townhouse Association and the Hot Springs Village Golf Association, and volunteered countless hours to tutor elementary students at nearby Fountain Lake Elementary School. Larry was a man of great character who made a positive impact on many lives and was loved by all who came to know him. Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Robert W and Margaret Siler, and sister Anne S. King. Larry is survived by his wife, Becky of Hot Springs Village; son Richard Siler and wife Shannon of McKinney, Texas; daughter, Lynn Olson and husband Brian of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren: Megan Olson of Houston, Texas, and Lauren, Brandon, Brooke, and Peyton Siler of McKinney, Texas. He is also survived by brothers Robert and wife Helen, Sandy and wife Jean, Will and wife Ann, Tony and wife Ginny; sisters Norma Thompson, Debby Stewart and husband Doug, and Susan Phillips all residing in North Carolina; also numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, April 3rd at Mountainside United Methodist Church, 301 El Cano Drive, Hot Springs Village, AR 71909, with a reception following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Larry Siler to UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute, Mountainside United Methodist Church, Arkansas Hospice or the charity of your choice.
