Roger Brown Latsha

Roger Lynn Brown Latsha, 70, died Monday, June 03, 2013 at her home surrounded by her family after a long fight with cancer. Roger Lynn was born in Hot Springs on November 2, 1942 to the late Lillian Rogers Brown Hollyfield and Lee Brown. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Latsha and her beloved “Granny”. Roger Lynn loved her family and is survived by her three sons, Greg Latsha(Cathy),Roger Latsha (Erin) and Lee Latsha and the loves of her life, her grandsons: Taylor and Tucker , Blake and Kevin. She is survived by Sister in law: Nancy (David) Love, cousins, Woody, Ralph and Robert Hall, and Laverne Emanuel, as well as her special caregivers, Abby, Susu and TaeTae. Roger Lynn began baton twirling at a very young age, and was beautiful and graceful for a young girl to soon reach 6 feet tall, and she was the recipient of many trophies and awards. A graduate of Hot Springs High School Class of 1960, she was instrumental in creating the Hot Springs T-Steppers. She went on to become a Majorette during her college years at the University of Arkansas, Ole Miss, and the University of Oklahoma. Roger Lynn received her nursing degree from St. Vincent’s Nursing School in Little Rock and received her Master’s Degree in Nursing from UAMS. She retired from the Veteran’s Hospital in Little Rock after many years of service. Her work as a nurse was her calling and she loved her patients and coworkers dearly. Roger Lynn and family lived in Arkadelphia for many years while her 3 sons were growing up. She was the “Home Run” Mother at The athletic events and never missing a game, was the President of the Little league. So many of the youth adopted her as their Mom. She always had an open meal invitation, and couldn’t count how many she was always feeding. She enjoyed riding her bike across “Iowa” with friends, And enjoyed writing poetry and art painting. The great outdoors Were kind to her, teaching the kids to fish, and preparing the Girls (around 30) called the Twirlettes for the next parade or pageant. Honorary Pallbearers are : President Bill Clinton, Joe Thompson, Teddy Short, Greg Freeman, Jeremy Bolt, Dennis Browning, Tommy Pollock, Johnny Pollock, Kevin Smith, Jimmy Brown, Brian Kidd ,Tom and Cynthia Stone, Earl Hudson and the Hot Springs High School Class of 1960 Visitation and Memorial Service will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday June 6 2013, at Hot Springs Funeral Home. Memorial will be given by Roy Coulter and Pastor Manley Beasley of the Hot Springs Baptist Church. Arrangements are by Hot Springs Funeral Home.
