Katherine Jarrell

Katherine "Kay" Elizabeth Jarrell, 84 of Hot Springs, died Monday, August 29th 2011. She was born November 8th, 1926, in Horatio, Arkansas to the late Mildred McDow Jarrell and Jonathan "Shorty" Jarrell. She was a member of the First Pentecostal Church and she attended the weekly video/television services of Victory Christian Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Kay was a retired nurse and worked for the late Dr. JC McMahan for over 35 years. Throughout her nursing career, Kay ministered to each of her patients with love and compassion. In addition to providing the medical care they needed, in her concern for her many patients she became their mentor and friend. Her gifts of love and compassion touched the lives of so many people of all ages. In her retirement, she shared her example of compassion, love and grace with her family as she enjoyed spending time with each of them. Her parents preceded her in death as well as her brother, Robert "Bob" Jarrell of Vincennes, IN, a nephew, Reverend Don Sanders, Jr. and a niece, Rachel Elizabeth Honey both of Hot Springs. Kay is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Frankie and Don "Bucky" Sanders; her brother and sister-in-law, Chuck and Julie Jarrell all of Hot Springs and her sister-in-law; Jean Jarrell of Vincennes, IN; nieces and nephews include Tony Jarrell of Vincennes, IN, John and Connie Jarrell of Houston, TX, Karen Sanders of Tulsa, OK, Marc and Judith Honey and Brian and Jennifer Hannah all of Hot Springs; great nieces and nephews include Courtneay Sanders, Brittany and Devin Duffield, Adam and Ruth Sanders, Chase Sanders and Channing Sanders all of Tulsa, OK, John Jarrell Jr. of Austin, TX, Julia Jarrell and Jacob Jarrell of Houston, TX, Dustin Jarrell of Vincennes, IN, Matt and Corinne Ferguson of Sellersburg, IN, Allie Honey of Fayetteville, AR and Ashton Honey of Washington, DC as well as several great-great nieces, nephews and cousins. The family wishes to thank the physicians and support staff that showed such compassion and concern for Kay during her illness. CARE IV, The Bodeman Clinic, Dr. Kenneth Vest, and the Arkansas Hospice, 5th floor east, who supported and befriended each of us individually, your services and kindness will never be forgotten. Graveside services will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday at Crestview Cemetery with Reverends Karen Sanders, Adam Sanders and Chase Sanders officiating. Special Music honoring Kay will be presented by Ruth Sanders. Pallbearers will be John Jarrell, Tony Jarrell, Jacob Jarrell Ronald Jarrell, Adam Sanders, and Chase Sanders. Honorary Pallbearers will be Don "Bucky" Sanders and Marc Honey.
