Jearline Tolliver

Jearline Tolliver well known as Jerri passed away at the age of 67 on the evening of July 21, 2014 at St. Vincent’s Hospital as a result of complications of lungs and breast cancer. She was born to two magnificent Baptist parents the late Eddie and Gladys Wilbourn on March 13, 1947 in Senatobia, Mississippi. Jearline was married in 1975 to Tom Wojtowicz for many years and remarried in 1995 to John S. Tolliver. John and Jerri were inseparable. They both enjoyed the love of fishing; Jerri loved the peace and quiet of the fishing trips. Around her work, family, neighborhoods, friends and home she had developed a reputation as someone who was crazy about fishing. She loved the anticipation, the smiles and the thrill of seeing others catch their big fish or their first fish. She looked forward to the excitement of riding in her fishing boat and feeling relaxed and free; she loved being outdoors! She also loved gardening; growing, planting, soiling, raking and digging her own vegetables and plants. In addition it would be remiss to not acknowledge her love for cooking, she was an outstanding cook! She loved feeding people and her awards were the smiles of gratitude on their faces. She loved cooking so much that in 1995 she and John decided to open their own restaurant “John and Jerri – You Buy Fry”. Everyone loved her and her good cooking, but in 2002 they decided to retire. She wanted the freedom of choosing how to spend their time; so they decided to move from Chicago to Hot Springs, Arkansas. Jearline believed that you needed to be active in your daily living; the neighborhood and community was where she demonstrated her personal commitment to the Lord. She is survived by her husband, John Tolliver; one daughter, Cynthia (Matthew) White of Chicago, Illinois; three grandchildren, Takara, Tasha & Matthew White; six siblings, late sister, Shirley Shaw, late sister, Beverly Jordan, sister, Earline Burns, brother, Harold (Ener) Wilbourn, brother, Michael Walton, brother, Herbert (Karen) Wilbourn and a host of nieces and nephews. Services will be 10:00 AM Saturday July 26th at Hot Springs Funeral Home with Reverend Steve Lake officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery
