Freeda Faye Powell Freeda Faye Powell, 90, of Hot Springs went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 18, 2017. She was born in Bismarck, Arkansas to the late Wanie R. and Minnie M. Burroughs Whitfield. She was a devoted pastor’s wife and followed the teachings of Proverbs 31, a mother, sister, and grandmother. In addition to her parents, Faye was also preceded in death by brothers, Clifford Whitfield and Farrell Whitfield, and by sisters, Oneeda Beebe and Odean Whitfield. Survivors include her husband, Charles E. Powell, and children, Donna (Mike) Lyons of Benton; Bob (Sherry) Powell of Spring, Texas; Janet (Esmaeil) Adineh-Kharat of Cabot, and Cheryl (Jimmy Hatmaker) Odell of Hot Springs; one sister, Opal Castleberry, of Hot Springs, and one brother, Bill Whitfield (Dorothea) of Benton; grandchildren – Catherine (Travis) Robinson and Zach (Bren) Lyons of Benton; Majid (Rochelle) Adineh-Kharat of Cabot, Johan (Juanis) Adineh-Kharat of Jacksonville; Khadija and Magan Adineh-Kharat of Cabot, and Nick and Holly Odell of Hot Springs; great grandchildren, Emma, Evan, Carson and Chase Robinson of Benton; Deklyn and Bowen Lyons of Benton; Alayna and Abraham Adineh-Kharat of Cabot, and Evelyn Odell of Hot Springs; and many nieces and nephews. She loved her family and used her abilities to assist her husband of 66 years to provide for their family. Faye was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed making clothes of all sizes for her children and grandchildren. She was active in arts and crafts for many years and excelled in the quality of her crafts, especially her quilts. She had many talents which included playing several musical instruments, singing in a family quartet, and caring for her beautiful flower gardens – lilies, irises, roses, daffodils and peonies. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at the Zion Hill Church of God with Anna Jantz and Travis Robinson officiating. Interment will follow in Fairplay Community Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Majid Adineh-Kharat, Zach Lyons, Johan Adineh-Kharat, Nick Odell, Ronnie Castleberry and Larry Whitfield. Honorary pallbearers are Junior Castleberry, Dennis Castleberry, Rudy Whitfield, Donnie Whitfield, Mark Whitfield, Allen Beebe and Tod Burns. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at Hot Springs Funeral Home. The family would like to express their gratitude and special love for Dierksen Hospice. The Christian foundation of the staff of Dierksen has provided unique and heartfelt caring throughout this journey. Thank you! In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Zion Hill Church of God.
