Elizabeth Ann Brasher

Elizabeth Ann Brasher, 92, of Hot Springs, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, August 28, 2020, with family present. She is now in heaven with our Heavenly Father, face-to-face with the Lord Jesus Christ, and happily reunited with her wonderful husband, Bill, and with other family members and friends, who were also saved by believing in the Lord Jesus Christ. Elizabeth, or "Liz," was born on November 3, 1927, in Crossett, Arkansas, to Edwin Campbell and Anna Bradberry. Anna was from the Wheat family of Monticello, Arkansas. Elizabeth grew up in Monticello with her loving grandparents, Beldon and Ella Wheat. As a young woman of 17 she met the first love of her life, Sidney Marshall Cook, Jr., of Haynesville, Louisiana. They married and lived in family housing at Ouachita State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, where he was a young professor on staff and she was a student. She eventually graduated with a degree in English and a minor in history and then they moved to Houston to start a family. Prior to having children, Elizabeth taught elementary school children in the 3rd grade. Elizabeth and Sidney had two sons in Houston, Greg Cook of San Diego and Doug Cook of Honolulu. Sidney passed away a few years after they arrived in Houston and Elizabeth found herself raising two young boys by herself. Elizabeth is also survived by one granddaughter, Anne Marie Cook, of San Antonio, Texas, and by her brother's family in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Her brother was Edwin Bradberry and passed several years ago. Eventually the Lord sent Bill Brasher, who turned out to be the second love of Elizabeth's life. He was a wonderful Christian husband. They would have been married 47 years had Bill not passed away three years ago. Bill and Elizabeth moved from Houston to Hot Springs well over 30 years ago and enjoyed a very nice retirement, meeting so many wonderful people at First Baptist Church, where they were members. Elizabeth was president of the Fifty Plus Club and the Welcome Wagon for some years, welcoming newcomers to Hot Springs. Bill and Elizabeth loved to just ride around in the country, have lunch out somewhere almost everyday, and vacation to Branson every year. Elizabeth developed a special relationship with the Lord. She loved the Lord with all her heart and she and Bill loved the men and women in their Sunday school class. She also loved her caregiver, Trina Smith, like a daughter. For anyone desiring to say goodbye to Elizabeth, visitation will be from 12:00 to 4:00 Thursday September 3rd at the Hot Springs Funeral Home. A small graveside service will be held by her son, Doug Cook, at the Oakland Cemetery in Monticello, Arkansas. The Wheats have a family plot in Monticello. Elizabeth will be interred right next to her loving and devoted husband, Bill. Elizabeth was a very good woman, wife, and mother. The best, in fact. She will be missed tremendously by all those who loved her, with a promise of reunion in heaven.
