Bonnie Lee East

Our Mother, Bonnie Lee Montgomery East, went to meet her Lord, Jesus Christ, on July 17, 2015. She was born in Briggsville, Arkansas and was 89 years old. Bonnie was a devout Christian woman who practiced what she believed, and a longtime member of Walnut Valley Baptist Church. She was passionate about bringing children to Christ and for many years, before she was unable, she would load her minivan with as many children as she could and take them to Sunday School. She played the organ for many years at Walnut Valley Baptist Church. She enjoyed teaching her adult ladies Sunday School class and was a bible scholar. Mom worked for the state of Arkansas at Arkansas College and Technical Institute (ACTI) as a Medical Transcriptionist for years before retiring. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Bruce and Ocie Montgomery; her sister, Jayne Kilby (Vernon); three brothers, Kyle (Maudie), Shannon (Sammie) and Sheridan (Nancy) and her husband of 45 years, Edwin East. She is survived by her four children, Bruce East (Judy), Winn Williams (Danny), Kathy Travis (Barry) and Paul East (Debbie); seven grandchildren, Amanda, Matt (Michelle), Travis (Holly), Chris, Shawn, Jason (Sarah) and Jeremy; twelve great grandchildren, Kayleigh, Caleb, Nathan, Teylor, Kate, Landon, Ethan, Jack, Lily, Andrew, Evan and Eden; nieces and nephews, and many great nieces and nephews. She was a second mother to her sister’s children, Howard and Paula Kilby and JM Harbert. She dearly loved her senior companion of many years, Mary Hoffman and of course, here four legged companion and best friend, Ella. Many Thanks to Dr. Diane Bodemann of Hot Springs and Hospice Home Care of Little Rock for their kind and compassionate care and support of our mother. Mom was known and will always be remembered for her sweet smile and kind nature and devotion to God and her family. Visitation will be 9:00 AM Monday July 20th with service to follow at 10:00 AM at Walnut Valley Baptist Church with Brother Tim Forrest officiating. Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Monday at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Briggsville, Arkansas. Pallbearers are Mom’s six grandsons, Matt East, Chris & Shawn Travis, Jason & Jeremy East and Travis Williams. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Walnut Valley Baptist Church, 1698 North Highway 7, Hot Springs, Arkansas 71909.
