Bonita Faye Douglass

Bonita “Bonnie” Faye Douglass, 89, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2025. Born on January 28, 1936, Bonita lived a well-lived life filled with dedication, creativity, and service. Affectionately known as “Bonnie” or “Munch” by family and close friends, she was widely regarded as “the kindest earth angel,” whose gentle spirit, compassion and warmth, touched countless lives. Bonnie proudly served her country with remarkable dedication through her work with the Arkansas Air National Guard, where she contributed her skills and commitment over the course of 40 years in support of military operations and readiness. Her long and steadfast service reflected the grace, reliability, and quiet strength she brought to every endeavor. In the late 1960s, she served as Secretary of the Arkansas Water Ski Association, helping to organize and promote the sport during a time of growth and enthusiasm for water skiing in the state. Since 1990, Bonnie served as Secretary for the Writers in the Round Concert Series in Houston, Texas. A talented visual artist, Bonnie created beautiful charcoal and watercolor portraits, capturing the essence of her subjects with sensitivity and skill. Her artwork reflected her deep appreciation for beauty and the human spirit. She brought light to those around her through her unwavering support, listening ear, and acts of kindness. Family and friends remember her as a woman of grace, gratitude, and quiet strength, whose legacy of love and generosity continues to inspire. Bonnie was preceded in death by her mother, Ann Cole; her stepfather, Frank Cole; her father, Watson Douglass; her brother, Larry Douglass and wife, Elizabeth; her sisters-in-law, Margaret and Shirley Douglass; her nephew, Donald Douglass; and her Uncle Dallas and Aunt Helen Dolan. She also leaves behind her adopted daughters by heart, Linda Lowe and Candyce Matthews. She now rejoins her Heavenly family, where her gentle soul shines eternally. She is survived by her brother, Billy Douglass; her nephew, Mike Douglass; and a wide circle of cherished friends, nieces, and nephews whose lives she enriched. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Julie Meeks and Laura Mohr for their loving care and support. A graveside service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, May 16, at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Memorial Park in North Little Rock. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held in August at Hot Springs Funeral Home. Date and time to be determined.
