Billy Gene George

Billy Gene George age 91yrs.,of Hot Springs, AR passed from this earth on May 11th, 2025 at home with his wife and children by his side. He was born Jan. 16 1934 in Briggsville, AR., the eldest son of of William Luther and Myrtle Oma George. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, Gladys Vaughn and Lucille Moody. One brother, Lonnie George. Gene worked hard alongside his family growing up. The days were long and the pay little but as they would gather for their meals they were nourished through the laughter, love and fellowship around their long family table. Billy Gene went into the United States Army during the Korean conflict where he served as a medic, stationed in Japan Once out of the Army he soon met and married the love of his life Yvonne Sanders George on June 28, 1957. He worked hard as an EMT for Gross ambulance/funeral home while also working as an orderly at St. Joseph Hospital, all while getting his GED. He and Yvonne had two daughters and one son during this time and with his jobs and school he always placed God and family first. Gene then studied to become a funeral director. He was dedicated to the hundred's of families he cared for with compassion and his genuine love for people over the 47 years as a funeral director. He also enjoyed training the new funeral directors, using that amazing smile and his great humor. He and his wife enjoyed working on projects at home and in their beautiful yard and gardens. Gene loved God, family and Country and instilled those values in all of his family, not so much by his words but by the way he lived. He is survived by his wife of 67 yrs., Yvonne; his two daughters Julie (Richie) Rurup, and Amy Beth (Chris) Meggers; and one son Rusty (Kim) George. Two brothers, Johnny (Shirley) George and Raymond George. Six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren and a multitude of nieces and nephews. He had a HUGE heart and loved all of them every day of his life. Graveside service 11:30, Thursday, May 15, 2025, at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hot Springs, Arkansas. Visitation will be 10:00 – 11:00, Thursday at Hot Springs Funeral Home Chapel.
