Stella Gierow

Stella Gierow, 90, of Hot Springs passed away September 2, 2010. She was born December 12, 1919 in Paden, Oklahoma to the late George and Ella Mitchell Douglas; was a member of Park Place Baptist Church and a homemaker.
Stella was predeceased by her husband, Robert B. Gierow.
She is survived by a son, George Gierow of Nederland, Texas; a daughter, Dee Ann Johnson of Arlington, Texas; one brother, Earl Douglas of Los Angeles, California and a grandson, Douglas Gierow of Denver, Colorado.
Memorial services are 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, at Park Place Baptist Church with Pastors Thurman Broughton and Carlos Trapp officiating. A visitation will follow the service.

Donald Waylan Hoff
September 1, 2010
Donald Waylan Hoff, 64, of Hot Springs passed away Wednesday, September 1, 2010. He was born March 20, 1946 to Anthony John Hoff and Thelma Samira (French) Hoff. He was predeceased in death by his parents as well as his beloved brother, David Anthony Hoff.
Don entered the United States Army at a young age. He was a veteran of Foreign Wars of Vietnam completing three tours of duty where he received numerous medals to include a purple heart and a bronze star; one tour during Operation Desert Storm with a engineering tactical unit and one tour with Provide Comfort after Desert Storm. Donald retired as Staff Sergeant from the United States Army shortly after returning home from Iraq in 1991.
Donald is survived by his son, Michael Souder of Virginia; two sisters, Diane Cox of Texas and JoAnn Lee of Maryland; two nieces; two nephews; numerous great nieces and nephews.
Don was a long time resident of Hot Springs. He loved his country and he loved his freedom.
Visitation will be 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM Sunday, September 5th at Hot Springs Funeral Home.
Graveside Services are 1:00 PM Tuesday, September 7th at the Fort Smith National Cemetery with Reverend Rodney Morse officiating.
Pallbearers are Frank Smith, James Brown, Ed Schwass, Michael Roach, Roy Brown, Floyd Harvey and Billy Sexton.
Honorary pallbearers are Eddie Vasseau, Michael Barney and Walter Stallins.

Geoffrey Gatliff
September 1, 2010
Geoffrey Bruce Gatliff, 25, of Hot Springs passed away on September 1, 2010. He was born on July 20, 1985 in Hot Springs to Barbara Pene Gatliff and Bruce D. Gatliff and was a veteran of the United States Navy and a student at National Park Community College. Geoffrey was a very loving and ambitious young man who enjoyed hip-hop music and had an awesome collection of shoes. He had a wonderful sense of humor and infectious laughter. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Geoffrey was predeceased by his mother, his grandparents and two uncles
He is survived by his father, Bruce Gatliff of Hot Springs, two sisters, Babette Murphree Owens and Kati Holland and two brothers, Bobby Murphree Jr. and Danny Van Portfleit all of Hot Springs, four uncles Gary, Josh, Eric and Jason and two aunts Sheree and Brenda.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 P.M. Friday in the Hot Springs Funeral Home Chapel.

Marian Louise Griffin, 68, of Hope died Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at a Texarkana hospital. She was born July 27, 1942 to the late Alice Kathrine Ruck Griffin and William Henry Griffin Sr.
Ms. Griffin was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hope. She was predeceased by her parents and one brother, William Henry Griffin Jr.
Survivors include one brother, Delbert Lee Griffin of Illinois and two sisters, Beverly Ann Griffin Patek of Wisconsin and Norma Jean Griffin Basa of Illinois.
Visitation 10:00 AM Thursday, September 2nd at Hot Springs Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 11:00 AM Thursday, September 2nd at Crestview Memorial Park.

Homer Eugene Blair

Homer Eugene Blair, 70, formerly of Hot Springs passed away Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at his home in Ball Ground, Georgia. He was born on February 2, 1940 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Thomas E. and Velvet Benson Blair. He was retired from the Arkansas State Highway Department as a supervisor in the road department and was a member of the First Lutheran Church.
He was predeceased by his wife, Patricia Ryan Blair, and two brothers, Ernest and Curtis Blair.
Survivors include on brother, Charles Blair of Columbus, OH, and seven sisters, Clara Barnes of Ball Ground, GA, Georgie Oldaker of Newark, OH, Goldie Blevens of Columbus, OH, Charlene Powell of Orlando, FL, Eleanor Blair of Kentucky, Violet Awell of Columbus, OH and Joann Blair of Columbus, OH.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 2nd from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Hot Springs Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Friday, September 3rd at Crestview Cemetery with Pastor Jonathon Beyer officiating.

Cornell C. Yates

Cornell C. Yates, 72, of Royal, Arkansas passed away Sunday, August 29, 2010 at a local hospital. He was born September 15, 1937 in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
Mr. Yates retired as a sales representative with Oshkosh and Wrangler; owner of Maries Flowers and Gifts; a United States Navy Veteran and was of the Baptist faith. He was predeceased by his parents, Lillie Davis Yates and Dewey Yates; and four brothers, Dewey Yates Sr, Bruce Yates, O.J. Yates and Bobby Lee Yates.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Brenda Yates of Royal; one son, Mark Meredith (Heather) Yates of Royal; one daughter, Kelly (Benny) Efird of Royal; three grandchildren, Ethan Efird, Mark Yates and Meredith Yates.
Visitation will be 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM Wednesday, September 1st at Hot Springs Funeral Home. Services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, September 2nd at Hot Springs Funeral Home with Stacy Sanders and Dr. Jimmy Holland officiating. Burial will follow at Lowe Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Mac Stubbs, Tommy Norton, Randy Odom, Ricky Hart, Gerald Hammock and Wade Harrell.
Honorary Pallbearers are JoAnn Luker, Pat & Milt Wilder, Donny Moore and Elissa & Art McMahon.
