James “Jim” R. Albertson, 66 a resident of Hot Springs Village since 1976, passed away Friday, November 2, 2012. Jim was born on June 23, 1946 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Florence and Melvin Albertson.

A co-founder of Jim and Mel’s Golf Cars thirty four years ago, Jim was retired from the United States Air Force, having served during the Vietnam War.  Jim, an ex-POW, was an honored and decorated veteran, the recipient of five Purple Hearts and two Bronze Stars for bravery.  Jim was also a member and Past President of the Vietnam Veterans Organization of Hot Springs.

He is survived by his  loving wife of 36 years, Tonya Albertson of Hot Springs Village, three daughters and two sons-in-law, Tanya and David Combs of Russellville, AR, and Annette Albertson of St. Louis, MO, and Myrriah and Justin Gottlieb of Boston, MA, one son, James R. Albertson, Jr. of Hot Springs Village, AR, six grandchildren and numerous extended family.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Hot Springs Funeral Home.

Celebration of life memorial service will be Wednesday at 2:00 P.M. in the Hot Springs Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Justin Gottlieb officiating.

Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Neeraj Bharany and his staff, Butch and Kathy Debus and the members of the Vietnam Veterans Organization of Hot Springs.

Memorials have been designated to the Vietnam Veterans Organization of Hot Springs, P.O. Box 1967, Hot Springs, AR 71902.

Military Honors will be by VFW Post 2278 Honor Guard.

We were saddened to hear of Jim's passing. He was always professional whether it was when we purchased our golf cart from him or when it needed to be serviced. We always enjoyed talking to him and wanted to let you know that we are thinking of you and your family. We will miss him.
