William “Windy” Windell, 94, of Hot Springs died on Thursday, February 16, 2012 in Hot Springs.  He was born on February 4, 1918 in Deport, Texas to the late William Hubert Windell and Mary Jones Windell.  He was a member of Grand Ave. United Methodist Church, member of the Victory Class, retired from the tax assessor’s office, a Mason, and was a volunteer at Mid America Museum.  He was in the Canadian Air Force becoming a pilot then went into the U.S. Army Air Corp as a glider pilot and instructor stationed in Lubbock, Texas.

 He was predeceased by his wife, Ellen Windell.

Survivors include, a niece, Sherry Jorgenson of Hot Springs, a great niece, Shannon Simmons-Gutierrez and husband, Joe, a great-great-nephew, Andrew Simmons, all of Sugarland, Texas, one brother and sister-in-law, Sam and Freddie Windell of Hot Springs and a nephew, Mark Windell of Hot Springs.

Graveside services will be Saturday at 10:00 A.M. in the Crestview Memorial Park Mausoleum with Reverend George Rook officiating.
